Sunday Stash: a bit of everything from Charm About You

I've been enjoying a return to what started as my 100 day project, hand piecing my Merrow Croft quilt (pattern by Margaret Mew). If you haven't done any hand piecing before, I have a how-to with lots of tips in my hand piecing tutorial. Using some of my treasured hand printed fabrics by Karen Lewis and Lucy Engels, I'm enjoying the neutral cool vibe of these pieces.

A hand holding small pieces of fabric, being sewn together with a running stitch. In the background is a circle shaped quilt block that has been hand pieced. Surrounding this are more small pieces of fabric, thread and embroidery scissors.

So I'm using up my stash but I'm also adding to it...

stitching stash from Charm About You

I recently got a few stitchy bits and bobs to help set me up for stitching projects this year. It's custom for me to share, mostly to document the details of things for my own record but also to give recommendations. I'd also love for you to share what items you have tried / use / love in the comments because there's nothing better than word of mouth!

First up is this lot from Lakeside Needlecraft. An 11" Q Snap frame, I already have an 8" that I love and I plan on having a couple of cross stitch ...

Some of This; Some of That 7/12/20 from The Quilting Reader's Garden

Hello, Friends and Readers.  How are things for you during these past few weeks.  We're starting to stay home more as the COVID-19 cases start to go up again.  And being home I try to keep to my 15 Minutes to Stitch challenges but some days I just don't have the energy.  So I've decided to change my reporting way just so I will DO it.  This week I did my stitching on 5 days so that's 83.33%  (my

Some of This; Some of That from The Quilting Reader's Garden

Let's start with the positive stuff. I was able to put in 15 Minutes to Stitch every day this week because I'm still sheltering in place.  I only go out about once every ten days usually just to use the car.  Surprisingly, most days it doesn't bother me to be home with DH doing things around the house, or reading, or quilting, or gardening, or working on a jigsaw puzzle, Here's the one we just

Some of This; Some of That from Quilting Reader's Garden

Hello, friends.  My top is done! As a pattern tester for Faith and Fabric I was thrilled to make this Lenten quilt top which was just right for my expanding liturgical series of quilts. It really spoke to me. I'm naming it No Greater Love. The on-point blocks remind me of the hymn "O Sacred Head Surrounded" when we sing "yet angel-hosts adore thee, and tremble as they gaze." If you'd like to hear

Fabric and Friends from Sew Fresh Quilts

Got to admit....

I have been really, really good, using up fabrics from my stache during the past two years. But every once in a while you need to freshen things up and acquire something new.

Back in January....

Christmas fabrics were on sale at Ye Olde Fabric Shoppe in Stratford, Ontario.

Finish the bolt for an additional 10% off?

OKAY!

And then my sister and I recently went for a drive to nearby London, Ontario.
Picked up these sweet pieces of yardage at the Grand Re-Opening of Stache Fabrics & Notions.

Thank you for being such wonderful, amazing, generous, beautiful ...

Sunday Stash & My Sewing Room from Sew Fresh Quilts

(ABOVE) This was my view just before Christmas.

(BELOW) This was my view in the morning last Tuesday.

Welcome to My Sewing Room!

Here is my finished Kangaroo & Joey2 quilt hanging out.

To the left is my grandmother's china cupboard.

Filled with old photos and treasured trinkets.

One such treasure recently resurfaced.

My Thumbelina dolly that has been with me for 50 years.

I just made her a new bracelet and necklace at Christmas time!

My ironing station is in the far left corner.

And the cutting table runs along the length of the back wall.

To the left ...

fabric and day off frolics from Charm About You

I'm gearing up to prepare for next year, despite this definitely being the time of year where I feel like hibernating! It's time to make plans, thinking about what next year will bring and sorting out sewing projects. I'm hoping to get things in order over the Christmas break, sorting out my sewing stuff ready for a fresh start in 2020. Recently there have been a few stash additions, I've been out in Manchester stocking up and enjoying cheese toasties, and finally sneaking some project finishes in!

As I continue to work on my Manx Log ...

Awkward from Nostalgic Cafe

I received a sweet package from my buddy Yumi in Japan. She always spoils me.

I love this pretty pouch. Yumi is a very talented sewer and quilter.

She sent these fun Japanese prints. I adore these!

Look at the cute selvage!

Anyone remember cassette tapes?

The English on Japanese prints are notorious and hilarious. It's one of the reasons I love them.

Come on smiled!!

I conclude this post with proof I really am a silly teenage girl. Taylor Swift polka dot Keds. Yes. They were on sale, but I might have paid full price if I. Maybe ...
